Handling Difficult Dogs

Every groomer has that dog. Here is how to handle them safely.

Aggressive dogs: Never force it. Use calming techniques. Muzzles are a safety tool, not punishment. Know your limits — some dogs need vet grooming with sedation.

Anxious dogs: Keep environment calm. Take breaks. Build trust over multiple visits.

Senior dogs: They cannot stand as long. Be gentle with arthritic joints. Watch for lumps and skin changes.

Matted dogs: Explain BEFORE starting that matting is too tight to brush out humanely. Never demat a dog in pain. Charge a matting fee.
