Choosing Your Business Structure

Choosing Your Business Structure

You need to decide how your business is legally organized.

Sole Proprietorship: The simplest option. No paperwork, but you are personally liable for everything.

LLC (Recommended): Separates your personal assets from your business. Costs $50-$500 depending on your state.

S-Corp: Once you are earning $40,000+ per year in profit, an S-Corp can save you thousands in self-employment taxes. Most groomers do not need this until year 2-3.

Our recommendation: Start with an LLC. It is the sweet spot of protection and simplicity.

Do not forget: Open a separate business bank account immediately. Mixing personal and business finances is the number one mistake new business owners make.
