Setting Revenue Goals

A goal without a number is just a wish.

Work backwards: Desired take-home $60,000. Add 30% for taxes: $78,000. Add expenses ($6,000): $84,000. That is $7,000 per month.

The math: Average groom $85. $7,000 divided by $85 equals 82 dogs per month equals 3.7 dogs per day. Four dogs a day at $85 equals $74,800 per year equals $60,000 take-home.

Milestones:

  • Month 1-3: 2 dogs per day ($3,400)
  • Month 4-6: 3-4 dogs per day ($5,100-$6,800)
  • Month 7-12: 4-5 dogs per day, fully booked
  • Year 2: Raise prices, hit $100,000

Post these numbers where you can see them. Goals you measure are goals you hit.
