Plumbing, Drainage and Ventilation
Three things that can make or break your home salon:
Plumbing: You need hot and cold water with decent pressure. A handheld sprayer is essential. If converting a garage, plan for $500-$2,000 in plumbing costs.
Drainage: Hair WILL clog your drains. Install a hair trap on every drain. Clean traps daily, not weekly.
Ventilation: Dog hair, dander, and moisture will destroy a room without proper airflow. At minimum: a bathroom exhaust fan. Better: a dedicated HVAC vent. An air purifier with HEPA filter helps with allergens. Do not underestimate this — poor airflow leads to mold and a salon that smells like wet dog permanently.
